A recent study shows that quality health care on USA is under par with other industrialized countries and even smaller countries too. The study, conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, or OECD.
On average folks in the USA pay $7,900 per year, far more than in other countries. Plus, more tax money is spent on health care than in other countries.
The study found there is a real shortage of family doctors and great numbers of people admitted to the hospital for avoidable and common illnesses.
U.S. life expectancy is below average and ranked 28th - just behind Chile's and well below the average
of 79.5 years among member nations. Japan has the highest life expectancy at 83 years followed by Spain and Switzerland.
Sadly, United States was ranked fourth from the bottom for premature mortality, which focuses on deaths among younger people. In the USA people there are less doctors and hospital beds available, people go to the doctor less often and then have shorter hospital stays when compared to 75% (seventy-five percent) of other OECD countries.
