The real jewel in life is inner peace. It doesn't really matter
if you already have what you want or are still accumulating what you
need. When you don't experience inner peace you're miserable. In our
society being miserable has a couple of "recognized" expressions. One is
constant medication. Another is substance abuse. And, another is
violence. I'm no doctor and what I'm saying isn't intended as medical
advice. But, I am offering you some common sense and an opportunity to
see yourself and your world in a new light.
There are only three strategies you can use to achieve inner peace. In a minute you can have them for free. In all honestly, these are readily available to anyone. No corporation or country can patent 'em. No one can put them in a bottle to sell. When you have inner peace you are happy and satisfied with long lasting beneficial effects. My goal is to have you understand how to achieve this jewel so you can savor it forever. For everyone using medicine and substance to "get comfortable" this means a big savings in cash flow.
Too many people struggle their entire life to make ends meet and die sick or exhausted. Are you part of that growing trend? What is wrong with a society that has everyone working themselves into the ground? In Europe workers get two months paid vacation every year - fantastic! In the USA we work until we croak. All along the way we are fed with fear about how Social Security isn't going to last. Hey, I'm past middle age and I see the turmoil people suffer income worries. This is a rat race that doesn't need to happen.
Here some decent advice; inner peace is not a "one click" experience. You are so used to expecting everything to show up in a very short period of time. Click an icon on your computer and you have instant gratification. Take a pill and you feel better. Go to the mall and buy whatever you need - it's ready to go in a nice neat package. Tune into the television and be inundated with news and entertainment. All this ease of life is good and enjoyable, but it also breeds internal laziness.
This laziness is dangerous to the very nature of your heart and Soul. The habits you developed of this lazy crust make you dependent on another. They hide the living, thriving, and pulsing of your heart and Soul. They also debilitate your skill of doing any serious thinking. When is the last time you read a book? When is the last time you accessed your creativity without using an electronic device? When is the last time you enjoyed the quiet of life? Better yet, when is the last time you stopped to notice what makes you satisfied in the nooks and crannies of your heart and Soul?
Inner peace need not a heavy topic, nor should it be challenging your religious beliefs. I'm just trying you to help understand where you've built your current habits and routines. All I'm doing is pointing out the basic framework of life for most people in this civilized world. I have just one last question for you. Are you ready to break the trends and truly build your inner peace?
Here are those three NEW strategies I promised. I know they'll put you on the road to lasting inner peace.
New Ideas & Perceptions
Be willing to see life in a fresh light. Your ideas and thoughts make your perceptions. You perceptions are like the floor you walk on every day - after a while you just take that floor for granted. Well, it's time to rip up the carpet. Yes, this may be uncomfortable but only because you are losing what is "familiar" to you. Inner peace comes from exercising you creativity. How creative is it to use the same ole ideas and thoughts every day? Would we have the great music and inventions you can't live without (light bulbs, computers, iPods, texting) if people always thought the same ole thoughts and did things the same ole way?
Exercise: Take five minutes at noon and in the evening, each day for the next 30 days, to describe a new perspective you have experienced. You can change the times if needed. I promise that this will help you put a crack in your "normal" perceptions if you are willing to be open.
Energetic Living
Live each day with a goal of harmony. Allow what enters your world to support you in expressing your joy and happiness. Look for the good qualities and express them. Reduce the attention you use to notice the bad/annoying aspects of other people and situations. Look for harmony and go where you find harmony, which means be willing to be spontaneous.
Exercise: Make your first activity of the day to write down or verbalize two harmonious goals for your day.
Whole Person Activities
Participate in activity that maximizes your creativity. This DOES NOT include watching television, playing video games, using the computer, or using the cell phone to text or play games. Some exercises I use for this are reading a book that presents new ideas, meditating, exercising, journaling, discovering positive affirmations, or spending time in nature - walking. This is time to refresh yourself and allow your connection to your heart and Soul to grow.
Exercise: On Monday each week plan a 30 minute block, for each day, where you'll use your creativity. This time cannot be related to your current job or career.
May you always have the patience to listen to your heart.
May you always have the will to exercise your divinity.
