You have a terrific site and now you are wondering, “Why there isn’t more traffic visiting it?” Or, “How can you find more buyers of your goodies?” With those kind of honest questions you can begin the process to have your pages cruising waves of traffic or waves of targeted visitors. It all boils down to the commitment you make in search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM).
I didn’t say that your site is going from drifting in the tide to cruising the waves overnight. How do you know where those waves exists?
“44% of all shoppers start their shopping trip in a search engine.”

The wave you wanna ride will come out of a search engines.
“70% of links clicked by users in search engines are organic links - not paid links.”
Source: MarketingSherpa, Feb. 2007
PPC, Paid Per Click, efforts may give you the impression that you can circumvent sweat equity, but long term solutions hold steady why band-aid approaches don’t hold the test of time. Buying people to visit your site won’t produce lasting waves of traffic or even buyers. Hopefully, you won’t have to learn that the hard way.
The rudder of your ship is your search engine marketing strategy: meta tags, key words, and building organic links. You strategy can be to draw local crowds or draw national/global crowds; it all depends on how you define that marketing strategy.
Your organic back links will come when you have material; such as articles, reviews, search engine submissions, and press releases pointing back to your site using text links that encourage search engine understanding around the relevancy of your content.
If it sounds comprehensive it is. In essence you are creating your web reputation using a blueprint, your search engine marketing strategy, and then laying it into the infrastructure of the web that reaches around the globe. This is why effective search engine marketing takes time and diligence, but the rewards are remarkable.
Before you start this kind of search engine marketing strategy, your site or blog is not listed on the first page of the search engine results for any key phrase or word. Your site probably appears there for your business names, but who cares about that. The majority of “new” clients looking for your products and services don’t know your business name or they would just call you. What they know is a service or product they want, so the search engines are a handy tool to do comparison shopping. You want your business to be displayed in that comparison shopping they preform.
What is a significant benefit of a decent search engine marketing campaign?
After it’s been installed, which can several months or longer, you appear on the first page of search engine results for multiple key word phrases that connect searchers to different aspects of your offerings.
A worthwhile search engine marketing effort, by design promotes and educates anyone about you, positioning your web page(s) to the aspects of the marketplace that contain potential buyers of your type(s) of offerings. New customers don’t need to know about you before they start searching in the search engines; your search engine marketing effort enables your business to magically appear on the first page of search engine results at the right time - in the appropriate search to satisfy that information quest of potential clients and buyers.
Happy surfing and if that tide starts draggin’ down your site or blog, just give me a call.
