New web app uses Google Street View to show exactly where Instagram pictures were taken  

Ha, you thought you were just posting your favorite picture on the web. But, with this app, that college students put together, it's possible to harvest data from that photo to determine where it was snapped. Critics say this is a stalker's dream come true.

More importantly, it just goes to show you that there is no real privacy in what is posted online.

1. Free email services like gmail and yahoo read your email to post ads  on you email pages that's related to what you are talking about in your email.

2. Facebook is selling al the dat in your profile to anyone who will buy it.

3. Now we learn that posting a picture on the web means people with the right application can determine where the photo was taken.

2013 is already proof positive that online privacy is an oxymoron.

The Beat harvests data from Instagram then links the location that photos were taken to images from Google Street View

Facebook is preparing to roll out a new feature for its Messenger app which allows users to place free voice calls to friends.

The feature is so far available only to iPhone users in Canada and is buried within the latest update to the app, but it will eventually allow users to make free internet voice calls, known as VoIP calls, to any Facebook friend.

Experts are saying it represents an attempt by the world's largest social network to dominate the social world by taking on the default calling function in mobile phones.

The new feature comes at the same time as Facebook Messenger rolled out a new feature worldwide which allows users to record and send a voicemail-type message to friends.

Working in a similar way to video messaging in the company's Poke app, users press and hold a red record button, speak their message, and it appears in line as part of the conversation.

But, when too many links are linking to you from mysterious sites then you are in the land of negative SEO. Google has a special team, which Matt heads up, that deals with these kinda SEO challenges.

Bottom line, get links to your pages from other reputable web sites and blogs but don't try to fake it. Matt's team will catch you.
